Westin Valencia

Our stay at the Westin Valencia was quite good. The hotel just got downgraded categories which worked to our advantage in the way of 24,000 SPG points refunded to our account, as mentioned in our prior post. Approaching the hotel it seemed like an old time building, very clean and well maintained. The building was actually built in 1917 and was renovated in 2006. The neighboring area is very quiet with plenty of small restaurants withing walking distance.  The hotel is not in the center of town, but it is well within walking distance to the city center.

The Checkin:
Checkin was smooth and without delays. Somehow our room was setup for just a single king size bed, which they quickly corrected and gave us a grand deluxe double room with balcony due to our SPG Gold status. Additionally, the Gold status saved us almost 20 Euros per day for internet access.

The Room:
The room was comfortable and very well maintained.  The balcony was a nice addition, but unfortunately it wasn’t pointing in the ideal direction for visibility of fireworks.

Location:

The location of the hotel was ideal for the Fallas festival which was the whole reason for our visit to Valencia. The nightly fireworks are set only 1 block away from the hotel. More on the Fallas festival in a later article.
The hotel, although not in the center of town, is only a 10-20 minute walk to almost any part of town. With the festival going on walking was the best way to get around. The surrounding area and Valencia as a whole seemed very safe.

Pool:
Traveling with kids, the pool is always a question. My only complaint about the property is that is does have a pool, but it’s a medicinal pool of some sorts and only available for adults as part of the fitness center. The kids were bummed.

Overall, the hotel was ideal for the Fallas event and it was an amazing return for the points we used, as this hotel was going for over $3,800 at the time of booking for our entire stay. I would definitely recommend the hotel and the event to anyone on their visit to Valencia.
