Hyatt Regency Philadelphia – Review

While on our road trip to New York for New Years Eve we made a stop in Philadelphia .  While there we had the pleasure of staying overnight at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing.  We made it a point to arrive a a little early so that we could checkout the local area a bit.

Having Hyatt Diamond status I had some suite upgrade vouchers which I hadn’t used yet so I used a few of them at this property.

Reception/Check-in

The check-in process was extremely smooth.  One of our rooms wasn’t ready but they checked us into the other one and called me when the other one was ready.  The attendant was very thorough in explaining hotel amenities, diamond amenities, breakfast, and local area.

Benefits for Diamond Status

Since this property doesn’t have a club room, they allow you to use the regular restaurant for breakfast and they then credit you back the cost at checkout.  As I mentioned I used my upgrade vouchers for this stay and we received two great rooms, one of which was the Ben Franklin Suite.

Breakfast

The breakfast buffet and the a la carte options were both great.

Parking

Parking is conveniently located in the same building with the option for valet as well.  We used self parking and although a little pricey, it was very much in line with any big city parking cost.  The facility was easy to use and you can go in and out at no added cost.  Parking is charged through your room which is always a plus for extra points!

Local Area

The hotel is very conveniently located for visiting South Street and the Liberty Bell.  Unfortunately during our stay it rained for most of the day but luckily it cleared up for a dinner time stroll on South Street.

Room

The room is really where our jaws dropped.  Using an upgrade voucher we were able to stay on the 22nd floor overlooking the city in a huge room at a very reasonable cost.  Our other suite on the 21st floor was just as good.  With rooms like this I was wishing that our stay was for a longer period of time!

View

The Ben Franklin room has a wonderful view which I fell in love with.

Overall this property is a wonderful option and I would definitely consider staying here next time I’m in Philadelphia.
