How I voted on the Freddie Awards

Voting for the Freddie Awards has been open for quite a while now, and I’ve just been too busy to do it up until now, but I finally got it done, like any other frequent flyer who loves miles and points should. For those who are not familiar with them, the Freddie Awards are the equivalent of the Oscars for the miles and points community, and airlines and hotels really try to get you to vote for them as your programs of choice. This is when us consumers get to speak up. It is really exciting to be able to thank the best airlines and hotels for their service and to reward them for a job well done.

This is how I voted this year:

Best promotion (airline)  – Southwest Partnerpalooza

Best promotion (hotel)  –  Club Carlson’s Stay One Get One/Big Night Giveaway

Best redemption ability (airline)  –  American Airlines

Best redemption ability (hotel)  –  Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG)

Best customer service (airline)  –  Southwest Airlines

Best customer service (hotel)  –  SPG

Best elite program (airline)  –  American Airlines

Best elite program (hotel)  –  Hilton Honors

Best loyalty credit card  –  Club Carlson VISA

Program of the Year (airline)  –  Southwest Airlines

Program of the Year (hotel)  –  Club Carlson

So there you have it, my favorite programs for the year, based on the redemptions and opportunities they had, but most importantly, based on their effort to provide excellent customer service and for showing they care about their customers.
