Westin Beach Resort & Spa – Fort Lauderdale – Review

Last weekend was the Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale and since it was a two day event I decided to stay on points at the Westin Beach Resort just up the street from the event.  Although not the closest hotel to the event this location worked out great for us.  It’s about 1 mile from the event and it’s an easy mile to walk with plenty of bars and restaurants along the way.

Reception/Check-in

Overall given all the traffic for the festival check-in was rather smooth and our room was ready early which was nice.

Benefits for “Status”

Having Gold status I opted for the drink voucher this time which I thoroughly enjoyed while enjoying lunch by the pool.

Room

The room was a no frills room, but had a decent view of the beach.  It’s always amazing to me how calming it is to watch and listen to the waves roll in.

Fitness Room

The fitness room although on the first floor, looks out onto the street and beach.

Pool

One of the nicest features about this property is the location of the pool.  It’s on the third floor and overlooks the beach.  The breeze is just perfect.  They even have a sky-walk to cross the street which allows you to easily get to the beach.

The bar/restaurant by the pool also served up some great drinks and the food was rather tasty.

Overall, this was just a quick one night stay but we enjoyed the quality of the hotel, proximity to Tortuga Music Festival, and the area overall.  We plan on going back with more time to enjoy the beach and local bars/restaurants.
