A few days ago I received an email from U.S. Airways advertising a promotion where you can earn 9,000 U.S. Airways miles right off the bat just for ordering your first shipment of wines from Vinesse.
The terms of the offer are a little confusing. According to the offer, you earn 9,000 miles, but it doesn’t say it is with your first shipment. The terms and conditions have no mileage amounts on them. The landing page says 9,000 miles in large caption, but it also says 1,500 miles PER each 12-bottle shipment. The first shipment is $79.99 plus $0.01 shipping. This works out to about $6.67 per bottle for some pretty good quality wines. I took advantage of a similar offer from Delta last year, which was running at that time.
My best guess is that you will earn 1,500 miles for each shipment, but it doesn’t say how they are coming up with 9,000 miles, so it is possible you will stop earning bonus miles after 6 shipments, but then again the terms aren’t clear enough.
If you don’t drink or don’t really like wine that much, think about this: For $80 you can knock out 12 good holiday presents. Now that the holiday season is coming up, this is a great opportunity to get some shopping done early from the comfort of your own home and save some money and earn a ton of miles in the process.
The offer doesn’t appear to be targeted, but make sure it displays the same terms for you before committing to purchasing the bottles. After the initial offer the price per bottle goes up to $13.50 (still a good price if you drink wine regularly). Otherwise, just cancel after the first shipment, but be sure to follow up if your miles don’t post, as I had some trouble last year since I cancelled my membership right after the first shipment.
The offer is available until 11/26/13 and it’s for new customers only. Make sure you read the Terms and Conditions, as there are additional shipping surcharges for some states.
