Southwest allowing use of electronic devices below 10,000 feet effective immediately!

Last night I received an email from Southwest with the news that they’re now following suit and allowing small portable electronic devices below 10,000 feet, and offering what they now call “Gate to Gate wifi”, since now you will be able to pay $8 a day per device and stay connected from wheels up to wheels down on all your flights for that day, so this is useful for staying connected on long trips.

Southwest-wifiKeep in mind, of course, that laptops are still not allowed below 10,000 feet for safety reasons, as they can become projectiles that could hurt somebody during an emergency. So be careful when paying your $8 as you may have to stick with your smartphone or tablet to be able to stay connected the entire flight.

In any case, make sure all your electronics are fully charged, and enjoy those Dish shows!
