How to reset the expiration clock on your miles

The dining programs rewards are a great way to reset your expiring miles.  Details on the dining program can be found on our prior post.

If you have a mileage account that is about to expire, sign up for their dining program, register a credit card, search for a participating restaurant, and go buy a bottle of water, a soda or a small item using that credit card.  You will then earn a couple of miles for the purchase, and the miles that post on your account will reset the clock for another 18-36 months, depending on the airline program’s inactivity requirements.

The best way to monitor the expiration date on your miles (other than being constantly earning new miles) is by using AwardWallet. For more details on AwardWallet, click here.
