Up to 5,000 Business Extra points for referring friends

Yesterday came with quite a surprise, as I received an email from American Airlines’ Business Extra program allowing me to refer up to 5 friends for 1,000 points each, up to 5,000 points. This is a great offer and it appears to have targeted all current Business Extra members. Each referred person also earns 1,000 points just for signing up, enough for 3 Admirals’ Club passes or half the points needed for a domestic U.S. award.

Business-ExtraBusiness Extra is a separate program from American Airlines, and it is revenue based. You earn 2 points for each $10 spent in flights with AA. Points expire the December 31st of the year subsequent to when you earn the points, irrespective of whether you have any account activity or not. The great thing about this program is that you are allowed to double dip by earning both regular miles with AA on your flights and Business Extra points. They are two completely separate reward programs.

Business Extra awards range from 300 points for an Admirals’ Club day pass, 2,000 points for a PlanAAhead coach award within the U.S., 2,400 points for AA Gold status, upgrades, and many other awards. You can see here the entire list of awards.

In addition to the 1,000 bonus points, if you’re planning on using the program on a regular basis, this Flyertalk thread has additional promotion codes  you can consider registering for to earn additional points.

Sorry, we are all out. If anyone else has any left, feel free to post here. You might also want to post on the Flyertalk and Milepoint threads.
